I know of three places in Colorado that has Ice Festivals. We have been to two of them and this is the best by far. I love the interaction that the kids can have with it.
Every year there is a theme.
I think this year was movies?
Lord of the Rings.
This Dragon was huge. It was warm this weekend and its head fell off from the heat.
Look at those wings!
Doctor Seus
One fish, two fish....
This one was OUR favorite.
And of course they have a kiddo's slide.
This was a great day to get out and see something new.
We left Friday after school and headed to Monarch ski lodge to meet up with another family. We spent the night there; we swam, hot tub, sauna, racquetball, basketball, and even freeze tag. Tired out the kids and then put them to bed. The next morning was the great morning for Olivia. She was going skiing for the first time. We drove the 5 minutes to the slope where it was snowing and 16 degrees. We checked her in and bundled her up. She was thrilled.
Olivia went to ski school for a half of the day.
I can't even call this a bunny hill, it was mostly flat but she loved the practice there.
Then they adventured to the bunny hill on the mountain. Her first chair lift.
she did great and did not fall when she got off.
That's our girl.
Her first time on the bunny slope and she did great.
Then she fell, not once but many times.
She got up and kept going. She is a champ at this.
Then we stopped for lunch after school was over.
We headed back out after lunch, she did two more rounds before she had a bad spill. She got cold and was ready to go in. Don't blame her.
Then Jon and I went out for our last run, which was wonderful.
My dear friend Mandy in China sent use a Christmas package. I got 2 fleece shirts and 3 cd's. Olivia was given this. They are doll furniture that you put together and paint. There was a bedroom set and a dinning room set.
And Mandy sent this Chinese doll to go with it.
Olivia was very patient until the last piece on putting them together.
We just have to finish the dinning room set and then she is off to Play.
English Tea Time We were served English tea, Spiced Fruit tea, and pastries. Very yummy, and Olivia was a champ on trying everything. Real Tea time is not her thing, but great to experience it once.
The school did this for a fundraiser. K-3rd Grade was able to participate.
Dress up fancy, and the fancier the better. Some of the girls and Olivia
Olivia's Teacher even helped out. Story time was this room.
Here they were learning how to walk Fancy with a banana on there head.
Lot of Arts and crafts
Painting Dress up Dolls
Then in the Library they had a scavenger hunt, finding the letters to spell FANCY, and learned new big words for different things in the library. Olivia found the Dictionary first. She was thrilled.
We had an awesome afternoon. She even got a Fancy Nancy book to keep.
